Suspect in Five Points Sex Assault Case Denied Bond

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A judge has been denied bond for a suspect in recent sex assault case that happened in Columbia's Five Points.

Darius Nelson, 26, appeared in court Saturday morning.  Columbia police charged  him with criminal sexual conduct first-degree, kidnapping, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

According to officers, the man forced the victim into a secluded area in the 700 block of Saluda Street around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

During the incident, the victim also suffered significant facial injuries after the suspect hit her several times.  As a result, the female received medical treatment. 

He's currently being held in the Richland County Detention Center.
