(WLTX) - Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! Wait, no...it's a parademon!!! And, if you've been keeping up, you know that Superman is "incapacitated" at the moment. So Batman needs to gather some "Super Friends" who are collectively capable of doing the Man of Steel's work.

An Amazonian Princess, an Atlantean Prince, a reconstructed athlete and a wisecracking speedster are finally being summoned to protect Earth from the outer space onslaught. Oh, and of course, Batman is part of the team too.

This alien invasion is led by Steppenwolf, who brings the heavy metal thunder in his search for the ancient Mother Boxes. Fortunately, our guys (and Gal) already have one of them in their possession. And the power this thing contains can wake the dead! So, exercise with caution.

It's been a slow and stormy build for the DC Universe at the movies. They all have the signature stylings of their director, Zack Snyder, who uses plenty of speed-shifting action beneath an overcast sky. But too much of one thing eventually amounts to nothing.

To his credit, he has tried to lighten the mood a bit. The Flash is constantly popping out one-liners, so much that it's as if he's in a different movie!

Still, I was hoping we'd have progressed further by this point. And so was the Leemoji. As far as he's concerned, DC stands for "Don't Care."

I wish I could say that it will likely get better. But we're lacking proof. You can add new ingredients to the dish - but this appears to be a recipe for disaster.
