Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia Opportunity Resource has partnered with Tapp's Art Center to host its annual Time for Art Holiday Gala.

The black-tie optional event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. December 9, and include rap artist FatRat Da Czar as emcee and Mark Rapp of Cola Jazz as the music headliner.

The gala will feature a silent auction in which attendees will bid using volunteer hours, with prizes taken home once the services hours are completed.

"Tapp's is thrilled to partner with COR on their winter gala," said Caitlin Bright, executive director of Tapp's Art Center. "Focusing on the two core tenets of Tapp's mission, art and community engagement, Time for Art is an exciting way for the creative sector to help Columbia grow. We encourage everyone to come visit the art center and check out the great works made by artists dedicated to supporting volunteerism and the important community contributions of COR."

Attendees will learn about volunteer opportunities from local nonprofit agencies, including Harvest Hope, Special Olympics and St. Bernard Project, while experiencing the work of nearly 30 Midlands artists.

Event coordinators expect the event to generate more than 2,500 committed services hours, which is equivalent to $57,675.

Public viewing for the gallery begins December 7, and artwork will remain on display throughout the month.
