Columbia, SC - (WLTX) The St. Patrick's Day celebrations were well under way in Five Points and people were thrilled.

"We're looking forward to seeing the parade in a few minutes" says Thompson

John Thompson says he's just so excited to take in the sights and see it all with his family.

"This is the first time. I grew up in South Carolina but I've been gone for seventeen years so this is the very first time I've been at the parade and the very first time for them to be here with me," Thompson said. "I just want everybody to be safe and have a great time today."

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook says although this is a fun event, safety is the top priority.

"We know safety is important to everybody so we ask people if they see something to say something and if they don't feel comfortable reach out and let somebody know," Holbrook said.

The business owner says, "we have different varieties we do it with the sea salt and for the people whol like spicy we got habanera so you got that spicy, sweet, salty bacon and you just got everything going on."
