While the USC baseball team is searching for their head coach Frank Martin found his new assistant coach. Chuck Martin was in Columbia last night at the The Tip-Off Club celebration.

He comes in from Indiana, serving under Tom Crean for the last three seasons. Chuck has been coaching for 18 years now and he's looking forward to being a part of the surging Gamecock basketball program.

"I'm excited to get to know the guys on the team because I really don't know them that well. I know of them. I'm excited to work with the staff and work with Coach Martin and learn," Chuck said.

Chuck has been a head coach before. He led the Marist program for five seasons and was a scout for the Oklahoma City Thunder but he will become a student again under Frank Martin.

"He's one of the best coaches in the country. For me that was one of the appeals. I want to come down here and obviously I want to try and contribute and impact this program in a positive way but selfishly I want to learn as much as I can because what he's doing and what they're doing really works."
