(WLTX) -- Two suspects are on the run after officers say they robbed a victim a gunpoint on an interstate.

Deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department say the incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at I-20 and Monticello Road. They say the victim was having trouble with his vehicle and pulled over to the side of the highway to wait for his father to arrive. At that time, the two male suspects approached armed with a handgun and an assault rifle.

According to deputies, the victim ran across the street after the suspects threatened to shoot him. When the victim returned to his vehicle, he found it had several bullet holes in the vehicle. They stole the victim's cell phone and wallet containing cash.

Officers describe one suspect as a light-skinned black male with a small beard with a tattoo on the right side of his neck of red lips. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
