Richland County, SC (WLTX) - A Richland County man and woman are being accused of forcing teenagers to have sex for money.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Michael Carter and 25-year-old Shalil Alford. Carter is facing three counts of trafficking in persons and two counts of criminal sexual conduct, while Alford is charged with one count of trafficking in persons.

According to deputies, they were told that there was a sex trafficking operation at the Days Inn at 1144 Bush River Road between November 11 and 13. Officers say they found out that Carner and Alford had met four victims-- ranging in age between 15 and 17-year-old--while on Facebook. The suspects are accused of then forcing the teens to have sex with men for money.

The victims were all treated at the hospital after the incident was uncovered.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says if anyone knows about human trafficking, they're asked to contact the Richland County Sheriff's Department Special Victim's Assistant Unit at 803.576.3115.
