(WLTX) -- A man is facing several charges after leading officers on a foot and car chase Friday night.
Gavin Williams, 30, is charged with DUI 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Open Container violation as well as Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Sirens.
Deputies say they clocked Williams going 75 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour area near Lancaster Drive and River Drive. When officers attempted to pull Williams over, he made a U-turn and sped away in a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. During the pursuit, officers say Williams threw out a beer can and moments later crashed into Honda Accord head on. Investigators say Williams then left the area on foot, but was shortly apprehended.
After the crash, Williams' vehicle caught fire. Williams and an innocent passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Williams was later arrested and is held at Richland County Detention Center.
