Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested the former assistant Irmo Fire Chief after they say he assaulted his wife.

Clyde Thomas, 35, is charged with third-degree domestic violence.

He was arrested at a home on Berl Mar Road in the Columbia area of Lexington County. Deputies say they determined he was the primary aggressor in a physical confrontation with his wife.

Thomas resigned his position with the Irmo Fire District Tuesday night. He's been released from jail on a personal recognizance bond.
