An 18-year-old has been charged in an overnight shooting of another 18-year-old after Aiken police say they found him with a shoe matching one left at the crime scene.
Nicholas Lashawn Worthy, 18, of Aiken, is charged with attempted murder, with Attempted Murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana, second offense, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Police say they responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Palm Drive. An 18-year-old male shooting victim was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center by a family member with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries, police say.
Officers say they canvased the area and located a pistol, a shoe and some marijuana behind the home where the suspect was reportedly last seen. Shortly thereafter, investigators say they saw a vehicle driving slowly in the 700 block of Palm Drive, and then they saw a possible suspect get in the car from the shadows.
Police say they stopped the vehicle and discovered that Worthy was the only person in the car's back seat. Officers say they recovered the matching shoe from the crime scene in Worthy’s possession. Worthy was then arrested without further incident, police say.
