Newberry County, SC (WLTX) -- One man is dead after an argument turned fatal at a cookout, according to the Newberry County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies say, Allen Osheilds, 42, of Prosperity is charged with voluntary manslaughter. Emergency services responded to a home on Williams Wood Drive on November 5 at 7:30 p.m. and found the victim unconscious on the ground. Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton identified the victim as 40-year-old William Hazen.

Hazen was transported to a local hospital and died on November 7 as a result of his injuries.

Officials say Coroner Newton had come to the hospital to collect the victim's organs because Hazen was an organ donor. When Newton examined the victim, however, he concluded that the injuries on the Hazen's body were inconsistent with just a fall. A joint investigation was launched with the Newberry County Sheriff's Department into the death.

Investigators determined that Hazen and Osheilds were at cookout and got into a fist fight. The two men had been drinking before Osheilds struck Hazen in the face causing him to fall backwards on a concrete floor. Hazen suffered a skull fracture and bleeding into the brain which was the cause of his death, according to the coroner's report.

Deputies say Osheilds surrendered to law enforcement on Wednesday morning and posted bond later that day. His bond was set at $30,000.
