A Sumter man has been arrested after allegedly dragging a child by his feet and threw him off a deck, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
Kingwood Carrell Smith Jr., 21, of Sumter, was arrested and charged on Sunday with unlawful neglect of a child or by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say a witness reported seeing Smith drag a child across the floor by his feet on Sunday. Smith later admitted to throwing the child off a wooden deck, according to investigators. The child reportedly suffered a broken wrist and dislocated shoulder, investigators say.
In a separate incident, Smith was arrested and charged on Monday with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16. Investigators say Smith is accused of sexually assaulting a female victim under the age of 16.
Smith is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
