Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police say a suspect stabbed two men who confronted him after he allegedly inappropriately touched a woman in downtown Columbia.

According to police, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday a woman was walking with a male friend in the 1400 block of Main Street. Officers say 30-year-old Corneilous Williams walked up to the pair and inappropriately touched the woman. The friend confronted Williams, who police say then pulled out a knife and stabbed the friend in the arms.

The woman ran for help and was able to find a security guard nearby. Officers say Williams, however, stabbed the guard in the side of his body when he tried to subdue him. The guard was able to chase Williams and stop him until police arrived.

Both the guard and the friend were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Williams is now at jail where he faces charges including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of second-degree assault, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
