Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Marlon Smith is a Biology teacher at CA Johnson High School in Columbia.
He is also the Athletic Director and Girl's Basketball Coach. Teaching wasn't his first career choice. He credits former Lexington School District 4 Superintendent Dr. Robert Maddox for getting him in the classroom.
"It's kinda become one of those things that I love doing. I love waking up in the morning, different challenge, seeing those kids preparing them for the next level," Smith said.
Smith has been teaching for 12 years. He says he wants his students to know they can do anything they want as long as they put in the work.
Smith said, "I just want to be a role model for young men that look like me. I want them to see, you can look this way and you can look that way and you can still be successful."
