Lexington, SC (WLTX) - One person is dead after a two vehicle accident occured Monday morning in Lexington County.
According to Lexington coroner Margaret Fisher Paul Matthew Becker, 81 of Lexington was pronounced dead at an area hospital after the collision.
According to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Department of Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 302 near Pleasant View Drive.
Troopers say a 2007 Mac semi-truck was traveling west on SC 302 when a 2018 Dodge pickup truck began to make a left onto HWY 302 off of Pleasant View Drive and was struck by the semi. The pickup truck when off the left side of the road and struck multiple trees.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital where the person died.
The driver of the semi truck wasn't seriously hurt.
The accident remains under investigation.
