Columbia, SC (WLTX) — All lanes of I-20 West were blocked for hours Thursday morning due to a tractor trailer accident, backing up traffic for miles.
The S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) says the accident happened shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, and lanes have been blocked for about as long.
According to the S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP), a tractor trailer rear-ended another tractor trailer that was hauling vehicles. No injuries are reported, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. David Jones.
As 7:11 a.m., Trooper David Jones said wreckers are on scene attempting to clear the interstate. At around 7:30 a.m., Trooper Jones told News 19 he expects traffic to be moving in the next half-hour or so.
As of 7:41, one lane of traffic was open, while the remaining two remained closed.
