Babies, Babies, and More Babies at Riverbanks Zoo

Riverbanks Zoo visitors could be seeing quite a few baby animals this year.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Riverbanks Zoo visitors could be seeing quite a few baby animals this year.

Last month, the zoo announced one of its gorillas is pregnant. Now, there are two more expecting mothers.

The zoo announced Friday that lionesses, Lindelani and Thesiba, are each expecting a pair of cubs. Additional cubs are also a possibility, according to the zoo, but an ultrasound is showing two cubs at this time.

The lionesses are expected to give birth in April.

The zoo also announced that one of its koalas had a little joey. The koala joey is six months old, but it's coming out of the mother's pouch more.

If you would like to see the lionesses or koalas, Riverbanks Zoo is open every day from 9am-5pm.
