Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A massive power outage at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Sunday affected flights leaving Columbia's main airport as well.
Hartsfield-Jackson issued a ground stop for all flights coming from other airports after a fire at an center under the airport caused the entire facility to lose power. The ground stop that included several trips from Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

The airport's website showed several Delta Airlines flights for Sunday afternoon were canceled, including arrivals and departures. Delta is the primary carrier between Columbia and Atlanta.
Lynn Douglas with the Columbia Metropolitan Airport also says two flights headed to Atlanta also had be diverted to Columbia.
News19 found travelers waiting for hours waiting to speak to a Delta agent at the desk. One couple who was headed to France said just taking a few steps had taken them two hours.
Another man said he'd traveled from Saudi Arabia and is in the U.S. for a meeting. Because of the hiccup in Atlanta, the next flight that will take him to his destination will be Tuesday, the same day of his meeting.
Travelers are advised to check with their airlines individually for flight status.
