Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the person who died after a Columbia house fire on Thursday.
Curtis Leval Hunter, 62, of Columbia died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries from the fire, according to Watts.
Emergency crews were called out to the 1300 block of Lyon Street around 1 a.m. Thursday. When crews forced their way into the home, they found Hunter inside.
Hunter was transported by EMS to Palmetto Health Richland, where he died at 12:29 a.m. on July 6, 2017.
SLED, Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall are investigating the incident.
