Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- God Cares Charities will host a Community and Career Expo this Saturday.

The goal is to connect job seekers with career opportunities and community services. There will be application assistance, on-site interviews, education resources, and job training programs.

The job center has computers, printers and internet access for people at the expo to use for online applications and to create or revise their resume.

“Access is a major issue in many urban communities and the Community & Career Expo was created to address this critical need in our community", says Shepard Drayton, director of God Cares Charities.

"Lack of access to computers, Internet, transportation and information makes it difficult for individuals to improve their current socioeconomic status. The Expo will provide resources and education to create a community of informed advocates who can assist those in need,” Drayton said.

It's from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the God Cares Thrift store at 7121 Parklane Road in Columbia. Children are also welcome to attend while their parents explore the expo.

More than 30 organizations are participating including Midlands Technical College, Waffle House, United Healthcare, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Columbia Fire Department, SCE&G and the Columbia Airport.
