Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg deputies are working to identify a body that was found in Lake Marion Wednesday afternoon
Orangeburg Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said that just before 5 PM on Wednesday, a person called the sheriff's department that he had spotted what he believed to be a person in the water. The caller reported the sighting at a lcoal fishing area just off Vacation Lan,e located about two and a half miles southwest of Eutawville.
Investigators arrived a few minutes later to discover a clothed male in the water.
"At this point we're waiting on autopsy results that will hopefully give us the means of identifying this person," Ravenell said. "Meantime, we're checking missing persons reports not only from our jurisdiction, but those around the Midlands as well."
The Department of Natural Resources were called in to assist with the recovery.
