(WLTX) -- Authorities from the Newberry County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man who they say has dementia and may be heading to a former home in Lexington.

Deputies say Donnie Richardson was last seen walking down Lake Street, toward Main Street, in the Silverstreet Community. It was just after 10 p.m. when he left his Newberry County home when while relatives were sleeping.

According to officials, he was wearing a beige shirt with dark pants. He weighs 160 pounds and is 5 feet 6 inches tall and has one eye.

Bloodhounds and a SLED helicopter were used to track Richardson, but officials were not able to locate him. They believe that he may have gotten a ride.

We are told by deputies that he often reverts to his home in Lexington and thinks he needs to go to the Piggly Wiggly. Stores in the area have been contacted by law enforcement.
