Bishopville, SC (WLTX, AP) - A suspect was shot and a deputy was injured following a domestic dispute in Lee County.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed Monday they were investigating the incident.
Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon says the deputy was attacked after being called to a domestic dispute and suffered injuries to his face, then fired at the man because he feared for his life.
Simon says both the deputy and the suspect are expected to survive after the fight Sunday.
The sheriff did not say where the man was shot, and wouldn't release the men's names or other details about the fight.
SLED agents say there is body cam footage of the incident, but there is no dash cam video.
This was the second officer-involved shooting in the Midlands over the weekend. A deputy in Sumter shot a suspect after a chase there Saturday night. The suspect's injuries were described as non life-threatening.
