Walhalla, SC (WLTX) - The State Grand Jury has indicted the former police chief for the city of Walhala.
Ronald Wilbanks is charged with three counts of misconduct in office.
The city's police chief resigned Tuesday.
The attorney general's office says Wilbanks asked officers and subordinates to help him obtain opiate pills. They say also asked citizens for opiates and threatened them with retaliation when they refused.
Another charge says Wilbanks improperly gave a citizen a police department issued gun as part of a private deal.
He served as chief for 12 years.
