Extra Officers Assigned to Lexington Schools as Police Investigate Threat

Lexington police say they have extra officers at Lexington Middle School and other Lexington School District One schools while they investigate a threat made on social media.

Lexington, CS (WLTX) — Lexington police say they have assigned extra officers to Lexington Middle School and other Lexington School District One schools while they investigate a threat made on social media.

Police say they took a report Monday night about a Snapchat post that threatened violence at Lexington Middle School on Tuesday.

Investigators say they have been working overnight to verify the threat, and they continue to investigate along with the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

In the meantime, police say they have assigned additional officers to Lexington Middle School as a precaution and they will stay there until the investigation is complete. Officers have also been assigned to all Lexington One Schools within the Town of Lexington, according to the Lexington Police Department.
