Fire Danger is High Throughout the Midlands

National Weather Service raised Saturday's fire condition to high.

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - The National Weather Service says high winds and low humidity have created the perfect conditions for fire this weekend.

The service raised the fire condition status for counties across the Midlands to high Saturday.

Winds are expected to reach speeds as high as 25 mph, and across the region fuels, such as pine straw and leaf debris, are drying.

These factors prompted officials in Lexington County to ask residents to postpone burning, or use extreme caution, if burning is necessary.

If you plan on burning, contact the Forestry Commission at 1-800-705-8613.
