The 10th annual Food from the Heart drive is taking place Saturday, March 24, 2018 at participating grocery stores in Richland and Lexington Counties. The event supports Harvest Hope Food Bank.

The drive will begin at 9:00 am.

This year’s food drive will have 25 participating Richland and Lexington County grocery stores and be worked by over 600 volunteers. The past Food From The Heart food drives have always been a huge success making it one on of Harvest Hope’s largest food collection days each year. Last year’s drive raised 188,200 pounds of food.

Northside Baptist Church and Brookland Baptist churches will the participating churches. They are working diligently to make the 10th Annual Food From The Heart event the largest, one-day, food drive for Harvest Hope Food Bank in the history of the organization.

The food drive will be organized and worked by volunteers from Northside Baptist Church and Brookland Baptist members as they positions themselves outside stores to offer shoppers the opportunity to take a red “Food from The Heart” grocery bag. Participants will be asked to purchase items off a list of suggested food bank needs. Items include canned goods, rice, beans, diapers, baby food and other items. The bags are collected outside the stores and taken to Harvest Hope Food Bank where church volunteers sort the items. The donations will be distributed to local food pantries and soup kitchens.
