Columbia, SC (WLTX) WIth the Fourth of July falling on a Tuesday, some events will be held over the weekend. Here is a list of some of the Fourth of July events happening in the Midlands area.
MONDAY JULY 3
5PM-10PM A Rocking Red, White and Blue Celebration (Free) The town of Blythewood will host this music celebration. Food vendors will be on hand, bring your lawn chairs but no coolers. Music begins at 5PM and fireworks will start at 9:30PM Doko Meadows Park 171 Langford Road Blythewood
5:30pm-10PM Red, White & Boom! (free) Food, activities, live music. Fireworks at dusk. Park at the parking deck on Black street or the White Street parking lot in Rock Hill
7PM-Midnight Red, White, Blue Celebration (free) Fireworks, Music, food for sale. Bring a blanket or chair at the Red Barn on Church Street in downtown Manning.
7PM Icehouse Amphitheater The 246th Army Band will play a free concert, then a fireworks display 107 W. Main street in Lexington.
7PM Vietnam Veterans Recognition Night (free for veteran and guest) Veteran first pitch, color guard, national anthem, 50th anniversary pin presentation and fireworks after last out. Veterans can call (803) 254-3474 to get complimentary tickets.
7:05PM Columbia Fireflies (cost $5-up) Fireworks at the end of the game
TUESDAY JULY 4
7:04 AM Born in the USA Four Miler (rain or shine) Need to register--Race day fee $40 Corner of Trenholm Road and 4801 Forest Drive
8AM Ryan Rawl Memorial Fitness Event ($25/person, $50/team) A fitness event, can register at stricklyrunning.com. The event honors Ryan Rawl who was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
9AM-5PM EdVenture's Military Appreciation Day (Free admission for all military members and their families--must show ID) Free lunch provided for all military dependents 12 and under. 211 Gervais Street Columbia
9AM-11PM Lexington County Peach Festival (free--some places may charge to park $4) The 59th year for the Peach Festival. Parade, vendors, arts and crafts, BBQ and other food, children's rides, Revolutionary War Re-enactment and a fireworks show. And peaches. Lots of peaches. Peach ice cream, peach sundaes, peach tea, well you get the idea. Fireworks at dusk.
9AM-Noon Harper Bike Street Parade (free) Decorate your bike, stroller, and be in the parade. The event is in Newberry at the corner of Harper and Hunt Streets. The parade will begin at 9:30AM.
5:30PM-9:30PM Red, White, Blue on the Green (free) Gahagan Park Kids Zone, live music, food vendors, Parking will be extremely limited. Shuttles will be available. 515 West Boundary Street in downtown Summerville
6PM Newberry Fourth of July Fireworks (free) Newberry High School Mike Ware Field 3113 Main Street Newberry
