Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - A Gaston received two life sentences after pleading guilty to a double murder.

Robert Dumon Johnson, 36, claimed a payment dispute over yard work led to the murder of a couple, Brenda Posey and Harry Smith, on May 26, 2016.

Lexington County deputies discovered two burnt bodies when responding to a house fire on the 200 block of Cedarcrest Drive. The victims, who were found with multiple stabs in the master bedroom, bled to death prior to the fire being set, according to autopsies.

Johnson admitted to setting the fire after the victims were already dead.

Investigators determined the fire, which originated around the master bedroom, was set intentionally with a match or lighter. Debris was reportedly positive for gasoline, and a gas can was found on the living room floor.

Johnson was arrested on May 29, 2016, in Florence County, where he fled after the murders. He received two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
