A Lexington County School District One school bus was involved in an accident Tuesday morning on Calks Ferry Road, according to district officials.

Officials say a bus driver and 22 elementary students were on board when the collision took place at 1650 Calks Ferry Road.

As a precaution, one 5th grade student was transported to Lexington Medical Center to be checked out, officials say.

District officials say a replacement bus picked up the other 21 students and took them to Gilbert Primary and Gilbert Elementary, where they are being rechecked by school nurses.

Officials say both schools contacted students’ parents by telephone to let them know what had happened and how their students were doing.
