Local Church Honors Students with Good Grades

Students with all A's and B's were celebrated by the congregation at Brookland Baptist Church Sunday morning.

The Northeast campus of Brookland Baptist Church hosted an honor roll ceremony this morning during their 10 a.m. worship service.

Shortly after the praise team took to the alter to kick off the worship experience, students with all A's and B's were asked to stand so they could be celebrated by the congregation.

News 19's Michael Fuller spoke with Pastor Chris Johnson and Harmonie Frederick, a sixth grader at E.L. Wright middle school about how she felt to be honored by her church.

Frederick says, "I feel excited and appreciated and I feel like I strive to do better so I can get honored again."

Reverend Chris Leevy Johnson, Northeast Campus Pastor, emphasized the churches role in encouraging next generation.

He says, "they're not going to get it all the time out in the world but the church, where they have their family and their friends and love ones, is the place for us to encourage them and make sure they stay committed to education."

The Northeast campus holds service every Sunday with praise and worship beginning at 9:45 a.m. and service starting at 10 a.m.
