Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - One victim is dead, and another injured, after a motorcycle hit a tree early Saturday morning.
Troopers say a 2002 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on West Dunbar Road around 3 a.m. when he lost control while navigating a curve, ran off the side and struck a ditch, then a tree.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Dana Craig Merritt, reportedly died after being ejected from his motorcycle, while the passenger was treated for injuries at a local hospital.
Neither victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the SC Highway Patrol.
