Sumter County, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person was killed in an accident on Interstate 95 in Sumter County.

Lance Corporal Matt Southern said the one vehicle accident happened around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday near mile marker 137 on Interstate 95 Northbound.

L. Cpl. Southern said a 30-foot moving truck was traveling northbound when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. The moving truck then skidded off the left side of the road, and overturned several more times.

Troopers said the passenger in the truck was partially ejected from the vehicle, and died on the scene due to injuries. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

L. Cpl. Southern said the driver was wearing a seatbelt. The driver was transported to Tuomey Hospital with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
