Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Weather changes on the way as a cold front approaches the area Monday.

High temperatures Sunday were in the middle to upper 80s with lots of sunshine, but we have some big changes on the way.

A cold front will approach the area, this will bring a chance for showers and storms Monday. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 70s.

The rain will end late in the afternoon or during the early evening hours. The clouds will be decreasing as cooler, drier air moves in. Fall-like weather is expected for the remainder of the week.

Low temperatures Tuesday morning may fall into the upper 40s. High temperatures Tuesday will be in the lower 70s.

The coolest morning is likely to be Wednesday with low temperatures in the middle 40s. Columbia has not had a temperature in the 40s since May 8.

Temperatures will slowly warm through the rest of the workweek with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees by Friday.
