Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Tuesday was very warm, but cooler weather and rain is on the way for the rest of the workweek.

High temperatures Tuesday were in the lower and middle 70s. Columbia hit a high temperature of 75 degrees. The record high Tuesday was 81 degrees.

A cold front will move through the area early Wednesday. Showers will continue ahead and along the front.

The cold front will become stationary just south of the area. A series of disturbances will move along the stalled boundary. This will bring several rain chances to the area through Friday.

Rain will continue Wednesday morning. There may be a little break in the showers Wednesday afternoon, but the rain will return Wednesday night. High temperatures Wednesday will be in the middle to upper 50s.

The clouds will stick around Thursday. There will be a chance for showers. High temperatures will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Even colder weather is expected for Friday. High temperatures will be in the middle 40s, and there will be another chance for rain Friday. The showers will end late Friday afternoon.

The weekend will be dry and cold. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 40s with lows in the upper 20s and lower 30s. This will likely be the coldest temperatures of the season to this point.
