Richland County, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department is giving kids of all ages the opportunity to get active with their annual All Comers Track Meet.

On Friday night dozens of people made their way out to the Lower Richland High School track.

The meet featured events like the 50 and 100 yard dash.

Kids from ages three and up got a chance to leave it all on the track.

Richland County has been holding this event for 19 years now and this year track athletes from Benedict College helped out.

“It's an amazing feeling because I want them to be able to get an opportunity to witness and to be a part of the community,” says Benedict head track Coach Frank Hyland. “That's one thing we focus on is giving back to the community and that's the whole focus right now.”

“The biggest gift that comes back to us is seeing the smile on the kids faces and when they come back to us and they win something,” says Captain Robert Ragland with the Richland County Sheriff’s Dept. “That's the value of it.”

Along with winning medals, the kids got a chance to win prizes like bikes and tickets to the fair.

This event brings the whole community together and Richland County deputies even got in on the fun.
