BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its foundation are donating $1 million to nonprofit groups around the state helping those affected by the recent historic flooding.
"Our friends, neighbors and associates across South Carolina are experiencing an unprecedented tragedy," said Harvey Galloway, executive director of the foundation.
"The Foundation's mission directs us to be agents of change to improve the health and well-being of South Carolinians," he added, "and with this grant we can positively change the lives of many."
Nonprofits providing health and human services disaster-related help in affected counties may apply.
