Woodruff, SC (WLTX, AP) - The coroner and sheriff in Spartanburg County have confirmed that the body of missing man was found on the property where his girlfriend was held in a container for two months.

Sheriff Chuck Wright announced Saturday that the body of Charlie Carver was found in a shallow grave. The coroner added the victim died of multiple gunshot wounds.

In court Friday, prosecutors said that after she was rescued this week, Carver's girlfriend told them she'd seen Carver get shot by 45-year-old Todd Kohlhepp, the man charged with kidnapping her. She also said that other bodies may be at the property, and Sheriff Wright said they were checking to make sure they weren't dealing with a serial killer.

Saturday, officers brought Kohlhepp back to the property, clad in handcuffs and an orange jail jumpsuit. It's still unclear what they found or were looking for.

Kohlhelpp, prosecutors say, held the woman inside a 15 by 30 container on a 95-acre property that he owned since the end of August. She'd been bound at the neck and ankles. Authorities said she'd been taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe Carver and the female victim had gone to the suspect's property for a job when they were attacked. The woman had recently started working for Kohlhepp, a local real estate agent, cleaning houses for rent and sale.

Kohlhepp, who's a registered sex offender, has a previous kidnapping conviction in Arizona. Prosecutor Barry Barnette said that in the Arizona case, Kohlhepp kidnapped a 14-year-old girl, bound her and raped her in 1986. Online prison records show he served about 14 years for the felony. He was released in 2001.
