St. Baldrick's Event For Child Cancer Research Is Coming To Columbia

Columbia, South Carolina (WLTX) - Columbia is hosting it's twelfth annual St. Baldrick's event to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. On March 24 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carolina Ale House in the Vista, Richland County deputies and others will have their heads shaven in solidarity with children battling cancer.

The event will raise money to continue the research towards a cure for childhood cancer. All proceeds go directly to the National Cancer Institute for cancer research. The survival rate for children with childhood cancers has increased greatly since the 1970's due to the research funded from organizations such as the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Two-thirds of children treated for childhood cancer will suffer long-term effects fromm treatment, including loss of hearing, sight, secondary cancers and more. St. Baldrick's Foundation exists to change these realities. To donate, join call 888-899-2251 or get more information visit here.
