Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina troopers are partnering up with law enforcement throughout the Southeast to crack down on speeders.
It's called "Operation Southern Shied" and it will run through Sunday. South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee are all a part of the effort.
News19 had a ride-along with State Trooper David Jones where they saw a few drivers going 80 mph on a 60 mph speed limit.
"During the summer months it's the deadliest because of all the traffic" said Jones. "We have a lot of contributors, DUI, seatbelt and speed. Speed contributes 35%."
News19's ">Facebook post announcing the program reached over 100,000 and almost 150 people commented with questions.
During the ride-along, News19 asked some of those questions. Watch the video for Trooper Jones' answers.
