Sumter Building Partially Collapses After Truck Rams Into It

The truck hit a power line first, then rammed right into the building.

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - A truck lost control and slammed into the side of a Sumter building, causing a partial collapse of the structure.

The incident happened Thursday morning at the corner of Liberty and Walker Streets.

The truck hit a power line first, then rammed right into the building. A surveillance camera on another building captured the moment as it happened.

The driver of the truck wasn't injured, but two people who were passengers were. They were both transported to Palmetto Health Tuomey for treatment. They're exact condition is not known.

No charges were filed against the driver.

Traffic was blocked in the area for a time, but the road has now reopened.
