Lexington, SC (WLTX) - The Lexington Police Department is looking for suspects in several vehicle break-in and tampering investigations over the last two weeks.

Deputies say several men, typically wearing gloves and covering their faces, were recorded stealing items on surveillance video systems in the Barr Lane and Vinter's Wood neighborhoods. Several unknown make or model vehicles are also believed to be involved.

Stolen items reportedly include a handgun, tablet, laptop, clothing and a wallet.

A ballistic vest and two helmets worth $1,800 were also stolen from a law enforcement vehicle in the Barr Lake neighborhood, according to a report.

“With the holiday season comes opportunities for criminals to take advantage of those who leave Christmas gifts, weapons, keys, cash, and electronics in their vehicle to take," Lexington County Chief Terrence Green said. "Seldom are car windows broken without something of value in view and more times than not, vehicles are left unlocked making it that much easier for crime to happen.”
