The National Hurricane Center has issued an advisory for Tropical Storm Emily. The center says it has formed near the West-Central coast of Florida, between Tampa and St. Petersburg.

At 7 am on Monday, the tropical depression quickly formed as a tropical storm and is moving east at 8 mph with maximum winds of 45 mph gusting to 60 mph..

Forecasts predict the tropical storm will bring heavy rain that will travel across the state of Florida before heading up the coast. News19 meteorologist Efren Afante says the storm could affect South Carolina's weather.
