Twister Trivia: How Much Do You Know About Tornado Safety?

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Knowing the facts of tornado safety can be something that may help you in a life or death situation.

We traveled to Downtown Columbia to find out what people really know about safety if they see a twister. We asked a series of five questions to see what people know.

South Carolina is 26th in the country when it comes to the number of tornado strikes in the United States. The Palmetto State averages 11 tornadoes each year.

If your home doesn't have a basement or storm cellar, you should stay in a room in the center of your home on the bottom floor that doesn't have any windows or outside walls.

To contrary belief, you should not stay under a bridge if you see a tornado coming your way. A bridge actually acts as a wind tunnel and in fact the wind can be stronger underneath the bridge.
