Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Two armed robberies occurred within minutes of each other Thursday.

According to the Sumter Police Department, the first robbery happened between 11:40 p.m. and 11:49 p.m. at the Young's Food Store at 1970 Camden Highway.

The other took place the Kangaroo gas station at 2995 Broad Street between 11:55 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.

The two locations are less than two miles a part from one another.

Witnesses described the robber for both crimes as a medium-build black man between 25 and 35 years old.

In one instance, officers were told the man was wearing black jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt. In the other, witnesses said the robber was wearing a black skull cap, jeans, and a black and grey jacket.

No one was hurt in either of the robberies.

Investigators have not determined the exact amount of money that was stolen.
