A 12-year-old faces several charges after he allegedly drunkenly led police on a chase along Pleasant Valley Road before crashing Monday morning.

An officer initially tried to stop him in the 900 block of Springdale Road when the officer saw him nearly strike a cyclist. According to police, he was driving recklessly down Pleasant Valley Road before he hit a pickup with two people inside. Nobody was injured in that crash, but the child did not stop to render aid.

The child, who was driving by himself, then slammed into a pole and flipped over at around 7:43 a.m.

An officer initially tried to stop him in the 900 block of Springdale Road when the officer saw him nearly strike a cyclist. 

He was taken to Dell Children's with minor injuries.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the vehicle struck a "fixed object" at some point during the crash which happened near the 1700 block of Pleasant Valley Road at 7:39 a.m.

He faces charges that include driving while intoxicated, evading arrest and failure to stop and render aid.
