(WLTX) - The favored candidate won both races in the two special election races in South Carolina.
Republican Ralph Norman won the US House 5 seat vacated by Mick Mulvaney, who resigned to work for President Donald Trump's administration.
The millionaire real estate developer defeated Democrat Archie Parnell in the 5th District, which covers mainly suburban Charlotte on the South Carolina side of the border, but extends south to five Midlands counties: Sumter. Lee, Kershaw, Fairfield, and Newberry.
In South Carolina House District 70, Democrat Wendy Brawley easily defeated Republican Bill Strickland.
House 70 covers part of lower Richland and Sumter Counties. It had been held by Rep. Joe Neal, who died unexpectedly in February.
