Orangeburg, SC (WLTX)- CD players may be fading in popularity, but they’re still a common tool that helps teachers educate their students in the classroom.
News 19 is continuing our summer tour of Random Acts of Kindness and stopped in Orangeburg to make a CD player donation at Head Start, a preschool for low-income families.
“Research tell us that music and movement are directly related to brain development,” said Nicole Stroman, Head Start Director for OCAB. “So all of our classrooms are equipped with cd players where our children can move and also have instruction done through CD’s.”
Head Start in Orangeburg serves 290 children. It’s operated by OCAB, a non-profit that serves Orangeburg, Calhoun, Allendale and Bamberg counties.
News 19 also donated preschool-aged books like ‘Finding Dory’, ‘Dr. Seuss’ titles, ‘Curious George’, and other popular reads.
“We know that readers become our leaders. As we implement our goals here at the OCAB Head Start, we help children and their families begin their first stages of literacy and reading.”
