As the list of team MVP's was announced at the Gamecock Gala, A'ja Wilson made her way to the stage in what was the first of three trips.
Wilson was named the Female Athlete of the Year before taking home the highest award of the night - the President's Award.
The program's all-time leading scorer, the Heathwood Hall graduate holds eight other career school records and has her name atop the standings in a total of 62 categories in the program record book.
The unanimous national player of the year and first pick in this month's WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces, she led USC to a 129-16 record in her four seasons, three SEC regular-season championships, four SEC Tournament titles and the 2017 national championship. Wilson was also won an unprecedented three league player of the year awards.
Academically, she made the Dean’s List twice and earned a near-3.0 GPA in mass communications. Her work in the classroom was magnified when she made a public declaration of having dyslexia. She also dedicated numerous hours to community outreach during her time in the Garnet and Black.
