Charleston, SC (WLTX) - Former University of South Carolina baseball coach Chad Holbrook was introduced Friday as the new College of Charleston coach.

Holbrook coached CofC Athletics Director Matt Roberts at the University of North Carolina, but Holbrook went after this job as if the Cougar program was the number one recruit in the country. Holbrook was very aggressive in letting Roberts and school president Glenn McConnell know just how badly he wanted this job.

After five seasons as USC's head coach, Holbrook resigned two months ago. He could have pursued an offer to be on Tim Corbin's staff at Vanderbilt. But when the job at CofC opened, Holbrook was immediately the number one target and he in turn, zeroed in on that opening as well.

Holbrook says he the past few weeks have been a whirlwind and something kept bringing him back to College of Charleston.
